   Custom Detail Parts

Over the years I have had some custom parts molded in styrene specifically for my kits. Others I have done myself in white metal. Supplies are limited, so you'd better buy ALL you need now, rather than hope we have them later. I hope we do but you never know.

4551 - NP ENGINE HOUSE DOORS

drawing of NP engine house door

These incredible engine doors were produced exclusively for the NP 90 ft. Roundhouse by Jack Parker of Central Valley Model Works. They are an exact replica of those used system wide on the Northern Pacific Railway as well as very similar to many other railroads.

These large wooden engine doors have plenty of windows, with 28 panes on each half. The unique design allows them to be hindged and working! Just drill out the holes to be sure they clear .020" (for brass "L" pins) before gluing the hinges in place. Also includes a seperate "wicket" door, a -sized door, that can be inserted every few stalls or so. No better engine door on the market! Black Styrene.

13' x 17'-6" ( 1-13/16" x 2-13/32" ) in HO scale

My castings are offered to you in fresh White Hydrocal much like a brand new canvas just prepared by the artist with a coat of Gesso (chalk and glue). Just about any coloring medium will work once you perfect the techniques. If you are used to working with plastic or urethane you can seal the Hyrocal castings and it will be just the same. Or you can experiment with any number of stains, thinned paints or even dry-brushing techniques. It's up to you.

My various coloring techniques are fully described in my On-Line Clinics as listed below.
