ORANGE STORE HOUSES

CALIFORNIA - FLORIDA
THREE VERSIONS

Yes, these are exactly the same kits as the Apple Houses. A customer was thinking that he could probably use one of my apple houses for the orange industry he was modeling in southern California. Why didn't I think of that? So I have changed all the artwork, recipies and labels to oranges.

Each is 33' wide by 120' long in HO! (4-1/2" x 16-1/2")

The walls are of modular design and can be arranged as you like.

An extra 100 orange crates (100 are included in each kit) are available too.
Includes full color orange crate end label art.

Unfortuantely, these models were unavailable for quite a while, however, we are bringing them back very soon. Please feel free to reserve yours today! Just send me and e-mail and I'll put you on the list.

Orange Store House - Deluxe 2-Story $112.00
Orange Store House - Brick $75.00
Orange Store House - Concrete $70.00
100 extra Orange Crates   $5.00

My Apple Valley opertating display was a big hit at the 2004 NMRA National Convention held here in Seattle summer 2004 where I've placed all three versions. There was a lot of interest in the packing houses and we hope to have them available again shortly. Let me know if you are interested. Write to reserve.

100 ORANGE CRATES

Oh, and I dare you to build an extra 100 orange crates (100 are included in each kit).
Includes full color orange crate end label art, stripwood and instructions.

Apple crate end labels, 1/87th scale.

Apple Store House - Brick version.
The single story brick version (KIT 612/615) is most like the prototype (apple house) at Olds Station.

Apple Store House - switching Orchard on the Swamp Creek &
Western RR Club's layout in Edmonds, Washington.
The concrete model (KIT 616) is seen in the background of switching Orchard
on the Swamp Creek & Western RR Association's layout in Edmonds, Washington...
That's the smaller Cherry Packing House with brick office building (KIT 621) in the mid-ground.

Apple Store House - Concrete version.
The concrete version (KIT 616) it is uniquely appealing.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - for this model

ON-LINE HOW TO CLINICS

  HOW TO CLINICS
Here are a bunch of my on-line how to work with Hydrocal mini-clinics. Each kit includes specific instructions of course- and there are lots of ways to do things, but here are my thoughts, tips and techniques.

  Coloring BRICK
My traditional techniques for coloring and mortaring brick.

  Coloring STONE
With a little practice you can color realistic stone walls. Here's how I do it.
What are we going to do now that Testors/Floquil has dropped their Flo-Stains?

  Coloring CONCRETE
A little gray ink wash and some colorants. It's not that difficult.

SCRATCH-BUILDING STOCK

  Standard Common Brick- fine
If you like to scratch-build or just want to practice before you do, check out my stock castings. These are the same building blocks I use to create my kits.

  Hand-Carved Stone-
I have three different grades available. Use as retaining walls, cut them up for foundations, or make whole new buildings.

  Cinder Block Wall
Mix it up a bit and you'll have an even more interesting building.

  Concrete Retaining Wall
Whole 4" x 8" panels of the stuff. Use them for retaining walls, foundations, even make complete buildings like I have.

COMPLEMENTARY KITS

The Safety Hook & Ladder Co.
  Brick Firehouse

How about this little two-story firehouse? It's the prefect introduction to Hydrocal brick structures. If you are afraid to tackle the larger kits why not start here? You will find that Hydrocal modeling is lots of fun and not that difficult to master.

  The Stone Shingle Mill
is a great introduction to modeling stone in Hydrocal. This is one of my personal favorites, and indeed, one of my most popular kits.

  Apple Storage and Packing Houses
Same kit, just with apple artwork, recipies and labels-

  Fruit Storage and Packing Houses
Here's a bunch of little ones. If you don't have the room for the larger ones- or do like I am doing, mix them all together and you'll have quite a scene.
